Who We Are

The Shipley Group is a small, family-based business consisting of Notary Public and Accounting Services. We are located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

OWNERS & STAFF:
1. Timothy (Tim) Shipley (Notary Public, Accountant, President) (tim@shipleygroup.net) Born and raised in Victoria, Tim was educated at St. Michaels University School and continued his education at the University of Victoria where he completed his Bachelors Degree in 1984. After starting the MBA program at the University of British Columbia, Tim decided that an income was a better idea and starting his working career. After five years in marketing and another five years in the banking world in Vancouver, Tim applied and was accepted into the Society of Notaries Public Program. A few years and several exams later Tim was commissioned and started his life as a Notary Public. Shortly after this he moved back to Victoria to join his father in their new enterprise, now The Shipley Group.

2. William (Bill) Shipley (Tax Accountant) (tim@shipleygroup.net) Bill Shipley was raised in Victoria, attended Vic High, and spent several years in the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy). For over thirty years Bill looked after the needs of hundreds of tax clients. Bill passed away on January 07, 2008 and will be missed by all who knew him.

3. Christel Taylor (Conveyancer, Office Assistant) (christel@shipleygroup.net) Born in the Northwest Territories, Christel moved to the island in the early 1980s. After studying at Malaspina University-College in Nanaimo and then completing a legal assistant program, Christel packed up and moved to Victoria. She now resides in the greater Victoria area with her husband Jason.

4. Ron McLean CGA (Accountant) Ron McLean completed his CGA designation in 1989. He has over 30 years experience in senior financial management positions in both government and private industry. He has worked in public practice since 1994 assisting individuals in small businesses, owner managed corporations and non profit societies. He joined The Shipley group in February of 2007 and brings a broad experience in personal tax matters, corporate tax reporting, and small business start-up.

5. Andrea LaPointe (Conveyancer, Bookkeeper) Born and raised on Vancouver Island (Campbell River) Andrea came to Victoria in search of higher education at the University of Victoria. After finishing first year transfer courses Andrea, moved to Camosun College and completed a Business Administration Diploma. Through a Cooperative Program Andrea joined The Shipley Group in 1998 to assist with the tax season. Enjoying the work, Andrea decided to stay and help grow The Shipley Group. Andrea presently lives in the Victoria area with her husband Graham and their two children.

6. Shauna Klassen (Bookkeeper, Office Assistant) Born and raised in the Cowichan Valley, Shauna is another Islander. As Andrea did Shauna came to Victoria in search of education and entered the Business Administration Diploma Program at Camosun College. After successfully completing her diploma, Shauna entered the Certified General Accounting (CGA) Program. Shauna has completed level three of this program and is continuing her studies. Shauna still lives in the Cowichan Valley, with her husband Kyle and their two children.

7. Jeany Shipley (Accountant, Office Assistant) Born and raised in City of Cuiaba, Country of Brasil. Jeany obtained a University Degree in Accounting and was busy growing her own company when she met Tim. After a few very long and expensive trips back and forth Jeany moved to Victoria. Tim and Jeany were married in 2000. Jeany spends her time assisting the office with accounting needs and raising their children Samuel and Gabriella.

SHIPLEY FAMILY:
The Shipley family is a third generation Victoria family. William Shipley was raised in Victoria along with his wife Barbara Shipley (nee Bonnell). The last 40 years have been spent in the Gordon Head area of Victoria (University Area) where both children Jillyn Shipley & Tim Shipley were born and raised. Jillyn still lives in Gordon Head area today and has two sons, Spencer and Tyler. Tim also lives in the Gordon Head area with his wife Jeany and their son Samuel and daughter Gabriella.
